The flood maps in Boynton Beach have not been revised for the last 30 years and they do not count the growth in the western part of Boynton Beach and other parts of Palm Beach County. The National Flood Insurance Program was created in 1968 to help property owners in case of a flood. Most of the policy holders from the program receive a subsidize premium reduction. Unfortunately, due to the recent floods throughout the United States the program has been in financial trouble and passed a federal law in 2012 Biggert Waters Reform Act to increase premiums.
